About the Union

The Trichirappalli Srirangam Milk supply Union was started in 1930 and then it was registered with the enbloc of R.614 as Trichirappalli District Co-operative milk producers’ Union Ltd., on 26.08.1980 and 127 Societies were supplying Milk to the Union at the outset.

A new dairy with the capacity of 1.5 LLPD, was constructed in the area of 20 acres with the financial out lay of 10 crores under the financial assistance of world Bank.The above dairy at Kottapattu, Trichirappalli was constructed with the Technical assistance of NDDB on Turn Key basis. It started its functioning on 09.06.1995.

The area of operation of this Union is comprising of Trichirappalli, Karur, Perambalur and Ariyalur Districts.

Now, 685 Milk Producers’ Co-op. Societies are functioning and supplying Milk to this Union. The Total Members of the functioning Societies are 208468. Among the above Societies 100 Women Societies are supplying Milk to this Union. There are 113365 Nos of Cow and 1487 Nos of Buffalo are available with the members of Societies. The Milk Procurement of this Union is 4,54,808 Litres per day and 1,16,093 LPD, of Milk is sold as Local sales and 1,87,923 LPD of Milk is being dispatched to Tamil Nadu Co-op. Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd.,. The remaining quantity of milk is sent for conversion of By Products.

The Padalur New Dairy Plant was constructed at Padalur East village in Perambalur District with an area of 23.64 acre, with the facilities of 1.0 LLPD handling capacity, butter storage capacity 50 MT, Milk Cold storage with 50,000 lit capacity, ghee production capacity with 1 MT /day.
